A Message From the President

Hello all! It's hard to believe we're getting ready to close another year, I hope that goes well for everyone!

The Local Issues Conference is coming up August 17, 18 & 19 at the Galt House in Louisville, Ky. For registration and information on this you can go to www.dlg.ky.gov. We will have our KACTFO Association Meeting on August 17. I am working on speakers and the agenda. The Auditor's Office will have a presentation on Tuesday as part of the main agenda. If anyone has questions they would like the Auditor's Office to address, please email those to me and they will be glad to research those and have answers for you.

I was contacted by Kentucky Emergency Management; I have attached a letter I received from them. They feel that the County Treasurers need to be included, as well as County Judges in their 2009 Governor's Emergency Management Workshop. When I spoke with them they are concerned about the amount of FEMA funds that are unpaid across the state and would like to address that with the County Treasurers. They would also like to make us aware of the proper channels to go through when we have a disaster. When they talked with several local governments they decided that the County Treasurers are "in the know" about most activities in their county.

The Conference is July 29-31. I have a draft agenda attached along with a registration form. I thought with all the disasters we have had across the state this was important.

We will also have someone from Kentucky Emergency Management speak at our Association Meeting August 17.

The 2010 Spring KACTFO Conference will be April 14-16 at the Capital Plaza in Frankfort. In order to keep costs down and facilitate our speakers these dates worked best. Mark your calendars!

We continue to update our county contact lists. The current listing on the website is not accurate and we have removed it. Please forward any information that has changed since we printed our directories to me at treasurer@flemingcountyky.org. We plan to add the new one as soon as we get it updated. If you have a change anytime please send them to me.

Best Regards,

Kathy Dryden
